Merge branch 'master' of ssh://duo/~/mockwork

move uid stuff to its own module.
start updating release instructions.
uid stuff in its own submodule
drop privs early to parse cmdline args and config files. pick them up again before we start doing real work.
better end-user error messages for messed up config files
