Thus, if we determine the backing file contains an underscore, we use the value following it as our legacy_backing_size, which is then used to create the necessary backing file. This patch provides a simple way we can speed up the Nova tests by providing a new base class, `NoDBTestCase` which allows us to white-list tests not needing database access. The following speedups were observed: With TestCase: Ran 265 tests in 17.080s With NoDBTestCase: Ran 265 tests in 9.478s Further optimizaton could be done by fixing `test_host_filters` to not hit the database. This will require some effort though in order to maintain the quality of test coverage since part of what's doing is testing the code in the DB layer. The reason was that the error message was passed in as an `explanation` keyword which isn't understood by `NovaException`, and so is thrown away. It happens if we add constraints in different tables with the same column names (for example, `name`, `deleted`). In this case we can not create new constraint in mysql due to database limitation (it requires constraint name to be unique within a database). To solve this issue unique constraint name convention has been changed from "uniq_c1_x_c2_x_c3" to "uniq_t0c10c20c3" where `t` is a table name and columns `c1`, `c2`, `c3` are in UniqueConstraint. We can parallelize some work by querying for this information while a new instance is being provisioned in the virt driver. This adds a wrapper around the NetworkInfo model which allows one to query for network information in a greenthread. When a code path is hit that actually needs the network information, it waits for the greenthread to finish, if it hasn't already. Network allocation will only be async for virt drivers that accept this NetworkInfo model. Other drivers that expect the legacy format end up waiting for the operation to complete before driver.spawn is called. Unfortunately the decision as to what directory name to use is based on whether there is a pre-existing directory on the compute node with the old name. In the case of live migration, that doesn't work because we have libvirt copy the directory across for us. So, we need to pass around the directory name in the migration request. This is better anyway, as it means that ops types don't need to handle an instance directory magically renaming itself at some point. Resolves bug 1175286.
