The nova driver re-raises nova exceptions by default, while the quantum driver was raising the built-in http exceptions. Since servers.py handles nova exceptions, in some cases the quantum driver's http exceptions weren't being handled and resulted in a different http return code to the user. Both SecurityGroupAPI classes inherit from NativeSecurityGroupExceptions and call its static methods to raise exceptions. This change refactors SecurityGroupAPI to raise nova exceptions by modifying NativeSecurityGroupExceptions. So all places like: except SomeException as e: raise e should be replaced by except SomeException: raise If we are doing some other actions before reraising we should store information about exception then do all actions and then reraise it. When we make calls to nova-agent, we wait for the response in Xenstore. After a timeout period, we attempt to remove it. If the DomID has changed (due to a Windows VM rebooting at the right time via sysprep, etc)... or if the agent picked up the command and didn't respond in a timely fashion, the removal attempt will fail. This enables more operations to be allowed in against instances in an Error state. For example reboot and rebuild are useful recover options for an instance which has reached an error state, but not if the instance failed during its initial build. With this change the only actions allowed on an instance which has never booted successfully are delete and force_delete. Soft delete is not allowed, as the restore is in effect a start unless there is specific virt driver support. In addition the following actions are now allowed against instances in an Error state providing the instance has booted at least once: Reboot, Rebuild, and Rescue. This patch also makes compute_confirm_resize() take instance objects. Although this method will be obsolete after a full conversion to objects, this makes it send a full instance object to the conductor manager, which is then converted to a dict for passing to compute_api (for now). This will allow a more complete conversion of the use of it to objects, and then the dict hack will be removed when the method itself goes away. The framework basically allows a way for a single plugin to register API extensions and notification drivers. Both of these can be done by directly using config opts like osapi_compute_extension and notification_driver so this framework really only helps if we expected to (and wanted to) lots of these plugins in the wild.
