The bug was that if a user existed in smbpasswd but not /etc/passwd the search would be abandoned and no user's below the problem line in smbpasswd would be examined. the iterate_getsam21pwrid or pwuid functions in passdb.c have not been touched 'cause we need to do a getpwnam() call to get the necessary information. Fixing the iterate_getsam21pwnam() function though does speed up domain logons (the only case where the bug was currently showing up) tremendously for large smbpasswd files (test against ~4,500 line smbpasswd). --jerry
