<title>Using the Accessibility Preference Tools</title>
<highlights><para>This chapter describes how to use the <guilabel>Accessibility
</guilabel> preference tools to customize your desktop.</para></highlights>

<title>Opening an Accessibility Tool</title>
<para>You can open an <guilabel>Accessibility</guilabel> preference tool in
the following ways: </para>

on the desktop background. The <guilabel>Start Here</guilabel> location is
displayed. Double-click on the <guilabel>Preferences</guilabel> object in
the <application>Nautilus</application> window, then double-click on the <guilabel>

<title>Configuring Keyboard Accessibility Options</title>

preference tool to set the keyboard accessibility preferences. The <application>
Keyboard</application> accessibility preference tool is also known as <application>

accessibility settings that you can modify.</para>

<listitem><para><guilabel>Time to accelerate to maximum speed</guilabel>:
Use this setting to specify the duration of the acceleration time of the pointer.

<listitem><para><guilabel>Start moving this long after keypress</guilabel>:
Use this setting to specify the period of time that must pass after a keypress
before the pointer moves. </para></listitem>

a key before acceptance. You can specify the following slow keys settings:

setting to specify the period of time that you must press-and-hold a key before
acceptance. </para></listitem>
<listitem><para><guilabel>Beep when key is pressed</guilabel>: Select this
option for an audible indication of a keypress. </para></listitem>
<listitem><para><guilabel>Beep when key is accepted</guilabel>: Select this
option for an audible indication of key acceptance. </para></listitem>
<listitem><para><guilabel>Beep when key is rejected</guilabel>: Select this
option for an audible indication of key rejection. </para></listitem>

to specify the interval to wait after the first keypress before the automatic
repeat of a pressed key. </para></listitem>
<listitem><para><guilabel>Beep when key is rejected</guilabel>: Select this

<listitem><para><guilabel>Turn off Sticky Keys when two keys pressed simultaneously
</guilabel>: Select this option to specify that when you press two keys simultaneously,
you can no longer press keys in sequence to perform multiple simultaneous
keypresses.</para></listitem>
