To search your computer for a program or application:

Enter the Activities overview by pressing Alt F1 or by touching the cursor to the top left corner (a.k.a. the "hot" corner), or by pressing the Meta key.

Just start typing the name of the program or application you want to find. What you type will be entered in the Type to search box. As you type, programs and applications matching what you have typed will appear as you type.

Pressing the Esc key will escape the search and bring you back to the overview.

To launch a found application:

You can drag icons from the search results to the workspaces to launch them without leaving the overview.

Alternatively, you can just click on the icon. It will open in a workspace.
