| * | bugfix: potential race condition when adding messages to queueRainer Gerhards2008-09-183-9/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There was a wrong order of mutex lock operations. It is hard to believe that really caused problems, but in theory it could and with threading we often see that theory becomes practice if something is only used long enough on a fast enough machine with enough CPUs ;)
| * | re-enabled gcc builtin atomic operations and added a proper ./configure checkRainer Gerhards2008-09-181-9/+9

* | performance optimization: unnecessary time() calls during message parsing ↵Rainer Gerhards2008-09-163-112/+161
| | | | | | | | | | | | removed thanks to David Lang for his excellent performance analysis

| * fixed duplicate error numberRainer Gerhards2008-09-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | This probably happened during a branch merge and was not detected. Fixed now, should not haved any harm.

* | added properties "inputname" and "$myhostname"Rainer Gerhards2008-09-103-2/+42
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | - added message property "inputname", which contains the name of the input (module) that generated it. Presence is depending on suport in each input module (else it is blank). - added system property "$myhostname", which contains the name of the local host as it knows itself.

* | removed compile time fixed message size limit (was 2K)Rainer Gerhards2008-09-023-6/+11
| | | | | | | | | | The limit can now be set via $MaxMessageSize global config directive (finally gotten rid of MAXLINE ;))
* | some very minor cleanupRainer Gerhards2008-08-121-1/+0

* | added testbed for config errors and fixed a bugRainer Gerhards2008-07-292-2/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | - bugfix: no error was reported if the target of a $IncludeConfig could not be accessed. - added testbed for common config errors
* | enhanced configuration file error reporting and verificationRainer Gerhards2008-07-293-1/+38
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | - enhanced config file checking - no active actions are detected - added -N rsyslogd command line option for a config validation run (which does not execute actual syslogd code and does not interfere with a running instance) - somewhat improved emergency configuration. It is now also selected if the config contains no active actions - rsyslogd error messages are now reported to stderr by default. can be turned off by the new "$ErrorMessagesToStderr off" directive Thanks to HKS for suggesting these new features.

| * changed RainerScript testbench to a full-blow test suiteRainer Gerhards2008-07-072-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | it now works based on test case files, which enable to quickly generate test cases.
| * added capability to create a printable string of a vmprgRainer Gerhards2008-07-076-5/+118
| | | | | | | | | | | | This is needed so that we can create simple testbenches which will check the result of a test (a generated program) via a simple strcmp.
* | bugfix (cosmetical): authorization was not checked when gtls handshake ↵varmojfekoj2008-07-151-1/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | completed immediately. While this sounds scary, the situation can not happen in practice. We use non-blocking IO only for server-based gtls session setup. As TLS requires the exchange of multiple frames before the handshake completes, it simply is impossible to do this in one step. However, it is useful to have the code path correct even for this case - otherwise, we may run into problems if the code is changed some time later (e.g. to use blocking sockets). * | bugfix: priority was incorrectly calculated on FreeBSD 7Rainer Gerhards2008-07-141-6/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | because the LOG_MAKEPRI() C macro has a different meaning there (it is just a simple addition of faciltity and severity). I have changed this to use own, consistent, code for PRI calculation.

* bugfix: machine certificate was required for client even in TLS anon modeRainer Gerhards2008-07-024-18/+25
| | | | | | Reference: http://bugzilla.adiscon.com/show_bug.cgi?id=85 The fix also slightly improves performance by not storing certificates in client sessions when there is no need to do so.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Conflicts: ChangeLog conf.c doc/Makefile.am doc/manual.html omfwd.c plugins/omgssapi/omgssapi.c This was a bit hard to merge; if there are problems, they may be in the area of the new "comment in action line" code that came from the beta.
* added (internal) error codes to error messagesRainer Gerhards2008-06-2711-106/+123
| | | | | Also added redirector to web description of error codes closes bug http://bugzilla.adiscon.com/show_bug.cgi?id=20
* reduced number of compile warnings in -pedantic gcc modeRainer Gerhards2008-06-2714-57/+53

* misc small changes: corrected version, removed some debug output,Rainer Gerhards2008-06-271-2/+1
| | | | | | ..., restructured makefile, added some troubleshooting to test case (program rscript-parse.c has problem due to different structure alignment, where I do not yet know the reason)
* bugfix: gtls always read only 8 bytes per recv callRainer Gerhards2008-06-251-1/+1

* fixed invalid state checking inside gtls retry handlerRainer Gerhards2008-06-251-1/+1
|
* gnu error status must be set after retry operationRainer Gerhards2008-06-241-0/+2
| | | | ... otherwise, we check an invalid error state.
* bugfix: gtls und ptcp netstream driver communicated invalid iRetRainer Gerhards2008-06-242-3/+12
| | | | This was introduced due to recent interface change.
* improved gtls error reportingRainer Gerhards2008-06-241-1/+3

* added support for EGAIN while trying to receive data on gTLS sessionRainer Gerhards2008-06-244-19/+127
| | | | | | | | | This maps to bugzilla bug 83: http://bugzilla.adiscon.com/show_bug.cgi?id=83 This is the first test version, posted to user for repro of the problem. It contains code to handle the case, HOWEVER, I have not been able to test it in a scenario where a retry actually happens while receiving (I dont't get this in my environment). So I assume it is buggy and will probably not work.
* disabled compile warnings caused by third-party librariesRainer Gerhards2008-06-234-0/+12

* changed Rcv-Interface in tcpsrv subsystemRainer Gerhards2008-06-233-4/+14
| | | | | | It is now iRet based. This enables us to communicate more in-depth information to the upper peers. This is needed to handle the EGAIN case on rcv (not yet implemented)
* disabled in-depth GnuTLS debugging aidRainer Gerhards2008-06-231-0/+2
| | | | | | | This is a debug aid, only. Note that it may reveal sensitive information, so it should never be active in production code. Currently, this is a compile-time switch and requires code changes to (de)activate.
* bugfix: some error states were swappedRainer Gerhards2008-06-202-6/+29
| | | | | | | | ... in gnutls code, resulting in some hard too understand error messages. Also genereally improved certificate error messages a bit. Also, added GnuTLS debugging support.

* Fix linker flags for librsyslog and rsyslogdMichael Biebl2008-06-111-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | Use $(dl_libs) and $(rt_libs) instead of -ldl and -lrt. This ensures that rsyslog can be successfully built on *BSD. Don't like rsyslogd against $(dl_libs) and $(rt_libs) anymore. This functionality is now in librsyslog. Signed-off-by: Rainer Gerhards <rgerhards@adiscon.com>

* somewhat improved plain tcp syslog reliabilityRainer Gerhards2008-06-095-1/+54
