* [SCSI] FC transport : Avoid device offline cases by stalling aborts until ↵James Smart2006-03-131-14/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | device unblocked This moves the eh_timed_out functionality from the scsi_host_template to the transport_template. Given that this is now a transport function, the EH_RESET_TIMER case no longer caps the timer reschedulings. The transport guarantees that this is not an infinite condition. * [SCSI] Remove host template ordered_flush variableTetsuo Takata2006-01-251-1/+0
| | | | | | | | After the recent overhaul of the block layer the variable "ordered_flush" is no longer used. Signed-off-by: Tetsuo Takata <takatatt@intellilink.co.jp> Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <axboe@suse.de>
* [SCSI] turn most scsi semaphores into mutexesArjan van de Ven2006-01-121-1/+2
| | | | | | | | the scsi layer is using semaphores in a mutex way, this patch converts these into using mutexes instead Signed-off-by: Arjan van de Ven <arjan@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: James Bottomley <James.Bottomley@SteelEye.com>
* Merge branch 'post-2.6.15' of git://brick.kernel.dk/data/git/linux-2.6-blockLinus Torvalds2006-01-061-1/+0
|\ | | | | | | | | | | | | Manual fixup for merge with Jens' "Suspend support for libata", commit ID 9b847548663ef1039dd49f0eb4463d001e596bc3. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
| * [BLOCK] update SCSI to use new blk_ordered for barriersTejun Heo2006-01-061-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | All ordered request related stuff delegated to HLD. Midlayer now doens't deal with ordered setting or prepare_flush callback. sd.c updated to deal with blk_queue_ordered setting. Currently, ordered tag isn't used as SCSI midlayer cannot guarantee request ordering. Signed-off-by: Tejun Heo <htejun@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <axboe@suse.de>
* | [PATCH] Suspend support for libataJens Axboe2006-01-061-0/+6
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds suspend patch to libata, and ata_piix in particular. For most low level drivers, they should just need to add the 4 hooks to work. As I can only test ata_piix, I didn't enable it for more though. Suspend support is the single most important feature on a notebook, and most new notebooks have sata drives. It's quite embarrassing that we _still_ do not support this. Right now, it's perfectly possible to suspend the drive in mid-transfer. * [SCSI] use a completion in scsi_send_eh_cmndChristoph Hellwig2005-11-061-2/+3
| | | | | | | | | | scsi_send_eh_cmnd currently uses a semaphore and an overload of eh_timer to either get a completion for a command for a timeout. Switch to using a completion and wait_for_completion_timeout to simply the code and not having to deal with the races ourselves. * [SCSI] remove Scsi_Host.eh_activeChristoph Hellwig2005-11-061-2/+0
| | | | | | | now that the abuse in qla2xxx is gone this field can be remove. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Signed-off-by: James Bottomley <James.Bottomley@SteelEye.com>
* [SCSI] kill unused scsi_scan_single_target()Jeff Garzik2005-10-281-2/+0

* [SCSI] move the mid-layer printk's over to shost/starget/sdev_printkJames Bottomley2005-10-281-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | This should eliminate (at least in the mid layer) to make numeric assumptions about any of the enumeration variables. As a side effect, it will also make all the messages consistent and line us up nicely for the error logging strategy (if it ever shows itself again). Signed-off-by: James Bottomley <James.Bottomley@SteelEye.com>
* [SCSI] Fix thread termination for the SCSI error handleJames Bottomley2005-09-191-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | From: Alan Stern <stern@rowland.harvard.edu> This patch (as561) fixes the error handler's thread-exit code. The kthread_stop call won't wake the thread from a down_interruptible, so the patch gets rid of the semaphore and simply does set_current_state(TASK_INTERRUPTIBLE); Signed-off-by: Alan Stern <stern@rowland.harvard.edu> Modified to simplify the termination loop and correct the sleep condition. * [SCSI] fix oops on usb storage device disconnectJames Bottomley2005-09-191-0/+9
| | | | | | | | | We fix the oops by enforcing the host state model. There have also been two extra states added: SHOST_CANCEL_RECOVERY and SHOST_DEL_RECOVERY so we can take the model through host removal while the recovery thread is active. * [SCSI] add template for scsi_host_set_state()James Bottomley2005-07-301-0/+1
| | | | | | Fixes up some warnings in the tree. Signed-off-by: James Bottomley <James.Bottomley@SteelEye.com>
* [SCSI] host state model update: mediate host add/remove raceMike Anderson2005-07-301-0/+9
| | | | | | | Add support to not allow additions to a host when it is being removed. Signed-off-by: Mike Anderson <andmike@us.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: James Bottomley <James.Bottomley@SteelEye.com>
* [SCSI] host state model update: replace old host bitmap stateMike Anderson2005-07-301-5/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | Migrate the current SCSI host state model to a model like SCSI device is using. Signed-off-by: Mike Anderson <andmike@us.ibm.com> Rejections fixed up and Signed-off-by: James Bottomley <James.Bottomley@SteelEye.com>
* [SCSI] remove scsi_set_deviceChristoph Hellwig2005-06-261-6/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | scsi_add_host is the proper place to set the device, but people copy the scsi_set_device usage from older drivers again and again. note that this leaves some legacy drivers like qlogicisp/qlogicfc without pci association in sysfs, but they're scheduled to go away soon anyway. Signed-off-by: James Bottomley <James.Bottomley@SteelEye.com>
* [SCSI] Add target alloc/destroy callbacks to the host templateJames Bottomley2005-05-261-0/+25
| | | | | | | | | | | This gives the HBA driver notice when a target is created and destroyed to allow it to manage its own target based allocations accordingly. This is a much reduced verson of the original patch sent in by James.Smart@Emulex.com Signed-off-by: James Bottomley <James.Bottomley@SteelEye.com>
* [PATCH] scsi: remove volatile from scsi data2005-04-181-2/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | This patch removes volatile qualifier from scsi_device->device_busy, Scsi_Host->host_busy and ->host_failed as the volatile qualifiers don't serve any purpose now. While at it, convert those fields from unsigned short to unsigned int as suggested by Christoph. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
