* reset: Remove addr parameter from reset_cpu()Harald Seiler2021-03-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Historically, the reset_cpu() function had an `addr` parameter which was meant to pass in an address of the reset vector location, where the CPU should reset to. This feature is no longer used anywhere in U-Boot as all reset_cpu() implementations now ignore the passed value. Generic code has been added which always calls reset_cpu() with `0` which means this feature can no longer be used easily anyway. Over time, many implementations seem to have "misunderstood" the existence of this parameter as a way to customize/parameterize the reset (e.g. COLD vs WARM resets). As this is not properly supported, the code will almost always not do what it is intended to (because all call-sites just call reset_cpu() with 0). To avoid confusion and to clean up the codebase from unused left-overs of the past, remove the `addr` parameter entirely. Code which intends to support different kinds of resets should be rewritten as a sysreset driver instead. This transformation was done with the following coccinelle patch: @@ expression argvalue; @@ - reset_cpu(argvalue) + reset_cpu() @@ identifier argname; type argtype; @@ - reset_cpu(argtype argname) + reset_cpu(void) { ... } Signed-off-by: Harald Seiler <hws@denx.de> Reviewed-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* common: Drop asm/global_data.h from common headerSimon Glass2021-02-021-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | Move this out of the common header and include it only where needed. In a number of cases this requires adding "struct udevice;" to avoid adding another large header or in other cases replacing / adding missing header files that had been pulled in, very indirectly. Finally, we have a few cases where we did not need to include <asm/global_data.h> at all, so remove that include. * SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini2018-05-071-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag and have introduced one. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>
* ARM: rmobile: Contain CONFIG_ARCH_RMOBILE_BOARD_STRINGMarek Vasut2018-05-021-4/+0
| | | | | | | | | | Pull the symbol from the boards and zap struct rmobile_sysinfo as they are rather useless. The entire purpose of that whole machinery was to print board name in the CONFIG_ARCH_RMOBILE_BOARD_STRING. Do that in a far simpler and more contained manner. * Revert "arm: Remove unregister MACH_TYPE_xxx uses"Tom Rini2017-01-281-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | This reverts commit 70b26cd057f42c7126088b49d4285955c8a00eae. This is not a strict revert as it is easier to fix board/atmark-techno/armadillo-800eva/armadillo-800eva.c to now the correct name (same value) than to revert that change too. * arm: Remove unregister MACH_TYPE_xxx usesTom Rini2017-01-141-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Before we can sync with the latest mach-types.h file from the Linux Kernel we need to remove some instances of MACH_TYPE_xxx from our sources. As these values have been removed from the canonical upstream source we should not be using them either, so drop. * Various Makefiles: Add SPDX-License-Identifier tagsTom Rini2015-11-101-13/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | After consulting with some of the SPDX team, the conclusion is that Makefiles are worth adding SPDX-License-Identifier tags too, and most of ours have one. This adds tags to ones that lack them and converts a few that had full (or in one case, very partial) license blobs into the equivalent tag. * kconfig: remove redundant "string" type in arch and board KconfigsMasahiro Yamada2014-09-131-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now the types of CONFIG_SYS_{ARCH, CPU, SOC, VENDOR, BOARD, CONFIG_NAME} are specified in arch/Kconfig. We can delete the ones in arch and board Kconfig files. This commit can be easily reproduced by the following command: find . -name Kconfig -a ! -path ./arch/Kconfig | xargs sed -i -e ' /config[[:space:]]SYS_\(ARCH\|CPU\|SOC\|\VENDOR\|BOARD\|CONFIG_NAME\)/ { N s/\n[[:space:]]*string// } ' Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>

* Add board MAINTAINERS filesMasahiro Yamada2014-07-301-0/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We have switched to Kconfig and the boards.cfg file is going to be removed. We have to retrieve the board status and maintainers information from it. The MAINTAINERS format as in Linux Kernel would be nice because we can crib the scripts/get_maintainer.pl script. After some discussion, we chose to put a MAINTAINERS file under each board directory, not the top-level one because we want to collect relevant information for a board into a single place. TODO: Modify get_maintainer.pl to scan multiple MAINTAINERS files. * kconfig: add board Kconfig and defconfig filesMasahiro Yamada2014-07-301-0/+23
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit adds: - arch/${ARCH}/Kconfig provide a menu to select target boards - board/${VENDOR}/${BOARD}/Kconfig or board/${BOARD}/Kconfig set CONFIG macros to the appropriate values for each board - configs/${TARGET_BOARD}_defconfig default setting of each board (This commit was automatically generated by a conversion script based on boards.cfg) In Linux Kernel, defconfig files are located under arch/${ARCH}/configs/ directory. It works in Linux Kernel since ARCH is always given from the command line for cross compile. But in U-Boot, ARCH is not given from the command line. Which means we cannot know ARCH until the board configuration is done. That is why all the "*_defconfig" files should be gathered into a single directory ./configs/.
