* common: Drop asm/global_data.h from common headerSimon Glass2021-02-021-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | Move this out of the common header and include it only where needed. In a number of cases this requires adding "struct udevice;" to avoid adding another large header or in other cases replacing / adding missing header files that had been pulled in, very indirectly. Finally, we have a few cases where we did not need to include <asm/global_data.h> at all, so remove that include. * command: Remove the cmd_tbl_t typedefSimon Glass2020-05-181-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | We should not use typedefs in U-Boot. They cannot be used as forward declarations which means that header files must include the full header to access them. Drop the typedef and rename the struct to remove the _s suffix which is now not useful. This requires quite a few header-file additions. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>

| | | | | | This function is called during init so move it to the init header file. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>

* SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini2018-05-072-5/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag and have introduced one. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>
* env: Rename getenv/_f() to env_get()Simon Glass2017-08-161-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | We are now using an env_ prefix for environment functions. Rename these two functions for consistency. Also add function comments in common.h. Quite a few places use getenv() in a condition context, provoking a warning from checkpatch. These are fixed up in this patch also. * board_f: Rename initdram() to dram_init()Simon Glass2017-04-131-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | This allows us to use the same DRAM init function on all archs. Add a dummy function for arc, which does not use DRAM init here. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> [trini: Dummy function on nios2] Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>
* board_f: Drop return value from initdram()Simon Glass2017-04-051-2/+4
| | | | | | | | | At present we cannot use this function as an init sequence call without a wrapper, since it returns the RAM size. Adjust it to set the RAM size in global_data instead, and return 0 on success. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
* board_f: Drop board_type parameter from initdram()Simon Glass2017-04-051-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | It looks like only cm5200 and tqm8xx use this feature, so we don't really need it in generic code. Drop it and have the users access gd->board_type directly. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>

* net: Remove the bd* parameter from net stack functionsJoe Hershberger2015-04-182-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This value is not used by the network stack and is available in the global data, so stop passing it around. For the one legacy function that still expects it (init op on old Ethernet drivers) pass in the global pointer version directly to avoid changing that interface. * ARM: at91: move board select menu and common settingsMasahiro Yamada2015-02-212-6/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The board select menu in arch/arm/Kconfig is still big. To slim down it, this commit moves AT91 boards to arch/arm/mach-at91/Kconfig. Also, consolidate "config SYS_SOC" in each board Kconfig. The Kconfig files under board/ directory were modified with the following command: find board -name Kconfig | xargs sed -i -e ' /config SYS_SOC/ { N /default "at91"/ { N d } } ' Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com> Acked-by: Andreas Bießmann <andreas.devel@googlemail.co>
* Export redesignMartin Dorwig2015-01-291-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | this is an atempt to make the export of functions typesafe. I replaced the jumptable void ** by a struct (jt_funcs) with function pointers. The EXPORT_FUNC macro now has 3 fixed parameters and one variadic parameter The first is the name of the exported function, the rest of the parameters are used to format a functionpointer in the jumptable, the EXPORT_FUNC macros are expanded three times, 1. to declare the members of the struct 2. to initialize the structmember pointers 3. to call the functions in stubs.c Signed-off-by: Martin Dorwig <dorwig@tetronik.com> Acked-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> (resending to the list since my tweaks are not quite trivial)
* kconfig: arm: introduce symbol for ARM CPUsGeorges Savoundararadj2014-10-292-6/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit introduces a Kconfig symbol for each ARM CPU: CPU_ARM720T, CPU_ARM920T, CPU_ARM926EJS, CPU_ARM946ES, CPU_ARM1136, CPU_ARM1176, CPU_V7, CPU_PXA, CPU_SA1100. Also, it adds the CPU feature Kconfig symbol HAS_VBAR which is selected for CPU_ARM1176 and CPU_V7. For each target, the corresponding CPU is selected and the definition of SYS_CPU in the corresponding Kconfig file is removed. Also, it removes redundant "string" type in some Kconfig files. * kconfig: remove redundant "string" type in arch and board KconfigsMasahiro Yamada2014-09-133-14/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now the types of CONFIG_SYS_{ARCH, CPU, SOC, VENDOR, BOARD, CONFIG_NAME} are specified in arch/Kconfig. We can delete the ones in arch and board Kconfig files. This commit can be easily reproduced by the following command: find . -name Kconfig -a ! -path ./arch/Kconfig | xargs sed -i -e ' /config[[:space:]]SYS_\(ARCH\|CPU\|SOC\|\VENDOR\|BOARD\|CONFIG_NAME\)/ { N s/\n[[:space:]]*string// } ' Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>
* Add board MAINTAINERS filesMasahiro Yamada2014-07-303-0/+21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We have switched to Kconfig and the boards.cfg file is going to be removed. We have to retrieve the board status and maintainers information from it. The MAINTAINERS format as in Linux Kernel would be nice because we can crib the scripts/get_maintainer.pl script. After some discussion, we chose to put a MAINTAINERS file under each board directory, not the top-level one because we want to collect relevant information for a board into a single place. TODO: Modify get_maintainer.pl to scan multiple MAINTAINERS files. * kconfig: add board Kconfig and defconfig filesMasahiro Yamada2014-07-303-0/+65
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit adds: - arch/${ARCH}/Kconfig provide a menu to select target boards - board/${VENDOR}/${BOARD}/Kconfig or board/${BOARD}/Kconfig set CONFIG macros to the appropriate values for each board - configs/${TARGET_BOARD}_defconfig default setting of each board (This commit was automatically generated by a conversion script based on boards.cfg) In Linux Kernel, defconfig files are located under arch/${ARCH}/configs/ directory. It works in Linux Kernel since ARCH is always given from the command line for cross compile. But in U-Boot, ARCH is not given from the command line. Which means we cannot know ARCH until the board configuration is done. That is why all the "*_defconfig" files should be gathered into a single directory ./configs/. * Switch from archive libraries to partial linkingSebastien Carlier2010-11-172-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols". This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended. This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is inspired. The name of each former library archive is preserved except for extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker scripts. This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but include source files that depend these disabled features in the build, resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include: - disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS; - enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE. Signed-off-by: Sebastien Carlier <sebastien.carlier@gmail.com>
